Celebrate Champagne Day in New Orleans

Yes, please! Many bars and restaurants around New Orleans are celebrate Champagne Day which takes place usually in mid-October.

Michael Knisley, who hosts the site Bubblyotheque.com and hosts Champagne events around town organized the event Champagne Day NOLA.  He wanted to make the day a more coordinated, city-wide event so he reached out to various businesses to put together specials. His only requirement: Champagne from France must be poured. Knisley encourages people to "save the other delicious sparkling wine you have for another day."

From "the Vallée de la Marne to the banks of the Mississippi", folks from all around the world will be sipping champagne with friends. Why not join them and celebrate with a glass - or two? See below for a list of places around town where you can go to celebrate.

Top Places to Celebrate Champagne Day in New Orleans

Bacchanal - Get the party started early! Bacchanal offers a Champagne-by-the-glass special from noon to 11:00 p.m. Enjoy a glass - or bottle - and live music in Bacchanal's courtyard. 

Brennan's -  Staff opens up a bottle of Champagne every hour on the hour between 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with a free glass for those seated nearby. Brennan's continues the celebration on Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m., with five "deeply discounted bottles of Champagnes" as well as seven special $7 sparkling cocktails

Bar Frances - This Uptown wine bar hax $1.50 East Coast Oysters and half-price Champagne. Additional special by-the-glass Champagnes will be offered in the evening as well.

Boucherie - Stop by for lunch or dinner and enjoy a glass of JM Sélèque "Solessence" Brut or Pierre Paillard Rosé with a charcuterie plate -that includes bourbon-cured foie gras- for only $25!

Keife & Co.  - Keife & Co. offers a tasting of assorted Champagnes Franklin Buist of Lirette Selections, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Other locals, such as Spirit Wine and Cavan, get the party started at 5 p.m., with Sylvain pouring from a magnum beginning at 5:30 p.m. Angeline pairs Champagne and oysters at its Friday happy hour, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Meauxbar promises special Champagne and food pairings, from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m.
