Magazine Street: Six Miles of Shopping, Food, and Adventure

Starting at Canal Place in the CBD and running all the way upriver to Audubon Park through the Garden District and Uptown, Magazine Street is a New Orleans staple. Magazine Street is a thriving place of commerce, where you will find world-class shopping, great restaurants and classic New Orleans architecture in a relaxed, local atmosphere. You can find it all on Magazine Street: antiques, clothing, jewelry, shoes, cigars, home furnishings, formal wear, toys, beauty supplies and more. For women's apparel, Azby's (5531 Magazine) is a one-stop shop carrying stylish designer clothing, accessories, shoes, and more. For southern styles and the famous crawfish logo, be sure to check out Perlis (6070 Magazine). Family owned for over 70 years, Perlis carries classic, well-made clothing for the entire family. 

If you're looking for vintage, one-of-a-kind pieces, Lili Vintage Boutique (3329 Magazine) is a real treasure. Lili Vintage carries carefully preserved women's vintage & designer apparel, jewelry & accessories. For the best of the best in jewelry, visit Mignon Faget (3801 Magazine), a native New Orleans artist and designer known for her stunning baubles. 

For men's fashion, stop by famed menswear designer Billy Reid (3927 Magazine). Named Best New Designer in America in 2010, Billy Reid is an established designer with a keen eye for Southern fashion whose designs reflect his deep Louisiana roots (note: he also designs women’s clothing and this store is a generous mixture of both).

Magazine Street is home to some of the city's best new restaurants, including Shaya (4213 Magazine) which was named the country's Best New Restaurant at the 2016 James Beard Awards gala. Inspired by his Israeli roots, Chef Alon Shaya blends modern Middle Eastern, Turkish, North African and Greek flavors, serving shared dishes like baba ghanoush and tabouleh, hummus kicked up with curry-fried cauliflower,  and falafel accompanied by wood-fired pita bread.

Located in a quaint cottage that housed a grocery store in the 1800s, La Petite Grocery (4238 Magazine) is an inviting Uptown bistro that offers contemporary Louisiana fare that includes to-die-for crab beignets. With a superb menu and vibrant bar scene (the cocktails alone are worth a visit), La Petite Grocery works equally well for a business lunch, drinks with friends, romantic dinner date and or a meal for one. 

For more casual meals, stop by Dat Dog (3336 Magazine) for artfully crafted hot dogs and sausages, District Donuts (2209 Magazine) for sliders and whimsical donuts, and Stein's Market and Deli (2207 Magazine) for traditional and specialty sandwiches using top-quality meats and cheeses.

A must-see for history lovers and all patriots, The National World War II Museum (945 Magazine) is one of Magazine Street's most visited attractions. Located in the Warehouse District, the museum is home to a remarkable collection of artifacts and exhibits, as well as featured documentaries that bring to life the Second World War.

The Warehouse District is also home to many of the city's best art galleries, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, the Contemporary Arts Center, all within walking distance of one another.

Continuing upriver, Magazine Street will lead you directly into the stunning Audubon Park (6500 Magazine), where you can take in the natural beauty of South Louisiana among that park's storied live oak trees. Across the street from the park is the Audubon Zoo, home to the rare white tigers and countless other animals.
