I don’t know about you, but I almost always feel some sort of connection to fellow travelers, and the more common interests I share with them, the stronger the bond grows. I met Astrid as a 21-year-old college student, and from the moment I met her, I knew we had a connection. The reason for this connection is obvious to me: we’re both solo travelers who share a love of a unique kind of travel: the kind that pushes your personal boundaries, teaches you about the world, and opens your eyes to something new; travel that is luxury in style, but affordable in price.

Despite our outward differences, the bond between like-minded travelers is a strong one. If you find yourself craving a connection with others who desire to travel as you do, we might have the answer you’re looking for.

The AstridTravel Club

For years, Astrid has been crafting her own unique, exciting and culturally rich solo trips. As a big proponent of affordable luxury travel, Astrid took to her own devices to craft luxury trips similar to the ones offered by the larger companies without the dreaded solo supplement. Furthermore, she craved more than the “run-of-the-mill” vacation package, and developed a style of her own which focused on theme-inspired travel and cultural immersive experiences.

After decades of practice, she’s become pretty good at this. It wasn’t long before family and friends started to reach out to Astrid to plan their trips as well. This, combined with the desire to educate, equip, and inspire others to travel alone is what led to the creation of this website and now, the AstridTravel Club.

What is the AstridTravel Club?

The AstridTravel Club is a club designed to bring together lovers of affordable luxury solo travel. What we mean by this is the kind of travel that places an emphasis on luxury, comfort, and style, yet doesn’t break the bank. Our main goal is to foster connection amongst like-minded travelers. Through this club, you will be able to meet, learn from and even travel with other people who share common interests and like to travel like you. We hope to achieve this through a variety of methods.

Our prior “Art Routes” trip to San Miguel de Allende included guides like Albert Coffee, the expert on the Otomi archaeological site Cañada de la Virgen.

AstridTravel Trips

Perhaps the most exciting aspect of the AstridTravel Club is the open invitation to join any AstridTravel Trips. In the coming months, we will be revealing the first of many small group trips we have planned around the world. Joining an AstridTravel Trip is an ideal opportunity to meet like-minded travelers and bond over a shared experience.

These trips will be luxury in nature, yet affordably priced. Participants will stay in 5-star or boutique hotels, dine at some of the finest restaurants, be led by expert guides, and become immersed in local culture through hands-on experiences and behind-the-scenes insight. Most importantly, we hope to lead each participant to travel with an awareness that broadens the sense of self and fosters worldly understanding.

It is important to know that no AstridTravel trip will ever charge a single supplement. All packages are priced per person, giving you the freedom to travel alone in affordable luxury.

As a member of the AstridTravel Club, you will receive primary access to any upcoming trips. To get an idea of what these trips will be like, view these past tours of St. Petersburg and San Miguel de Allende that Astrid designed for the Greater Baton Rouge Arts Council. The same caliber of luxury and excellence achieved through these tours can be expected from all subsequent AstridTravel Trips.

InRegister Magazine wrote an article about our “Art Routes” trip to St. Petersburg in 2017. Read below to gain further insight into the kind of experience you can expect to have on any AstridTravel Trip.

The Online Forum

Ultimately, the purpose of a club is to bring people together. We greatly look forward to fostering new friendships amongst all AstridTravel Trip participants, but even more broadly, we hope to create an entire community of AstridTravel Club members around the world. While we might not be able to bring everyone together physically, we can bring them together virtually through online platforms and discussion boards. All AstridTravel Club Members will have access to a private online discussion board which will serve as a place to share ideas, ask questions, and find a sense of belonging amongst like-minded people.

Our vision is to make the AstridTravel forum your place to turn for all your affordable luxury travel questions and comments. Whether you’re looking for hotel recommendations or destination inspiration, you can turn to this community to find answers that are most likely to suit affordable luxury solo travelers. Furthermore, this is a space to stay connected with newfound friends made on AstridTravel Trips and reminisce on past experiences with those who shared them with you. It’s a way to keep the magic of travel alive long after your travels have concluded.

*Update as of July 2019: The AstridTravel Club is now accepting members!
