Affordable Eat Stay See and Do Tips in New Orleans

Bacchanal

Bacchanal is a quintessential wine bar in New Orleans. Not only do they offer live music every single day of the week, but they have an enormous outdoor space that is perfect for sipping your favorite varietal with music in the background. When you first walk in, you are given the option to buy a bottle of wine or other beverages to take outside--perfect for any type of budget-- or purchase drinks from the bar. Bacchanal also offers a delicious and very reasonably-priced menu, with items including cheese boards, light small-plates and hearty entrées.

Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery

Inspired by their building’s heritage as a warehouse provisioning the Port of New Orleans, the lobby art gallery does double duty as a Chandlery stocked with items from our very favorite local and regional creators of t-shirts, art, jewelry, fragrances, candles, soaps, and much more.  Built in the heart of New Orleans’ bustling port district just steps from the French Quarter, it served as a coffee warehouse before being purchased by E.J. Hart & Company who operated a chandlery, or general wholesale business, trading in everything sailing ships needed to stock their voyages. The hotel offers competitive rates year round for its unique layout and location.   To find out more about this historic hotel, visit old77hotel.com.

Coquette

Have you ever been to a restaurant and not had a single bad bite of food or sip of wine? That's how we feel when we visit Coquette, a Garden District restaurant that offers innovative southern cuisine with an emphasis on locally sourced products. Coquette is definitely not inexpensive, but worth every penny. The menus are printed daily, offering small and large plates, and even a blind tasting option. The bartenders are also extremely knowledgeable about the wine list and happy to suggest pairings.

The Sculpture Garden at New Orleans Museum of Art

The Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden sprawls across five acres in City Park, a mainly open green space that is larger than Central Park in New York. Beyond the beautiful sculptures, artwork and bodies of water throughout the garden, the best part about the space is that it's completely free of charge (although the museum itself charges an entry fee). Feel free to stroll solo around beginning at 10:00am every day of the week until 5:00pm on weekdays and 6:00pm on weekends. Through the museum, you can sign up for a free audio tour of the Sculpture Garden, which is a serene place for all solo travelers!
