While most colleges are trying to maintain status quo the Baton Rouge Community College is on a dynamic growth projectory. Last Friday at a BRCC Foundation board meeting we approved the acquisition of a 20 plus acre site for the construction of a new "state of the art" automotive training center and a career training academy to be located in the new Ardendale development. In the last fifteen years BRCC has grown by "leaps and bounds" and currently has over 10,000 students.  Some of the associate degrees and certificates it offers are in traditional fields such as pre-engineering, liberal arts and sciences and in the emerging fields such as sonography, avionics, film-making, video game design, nursing, construction management as well as  others. While many of its students go on to earn degrees at major universities BRCC's main focus is to ensure that it's students have the educational foundation and skills they need  to enter the workforce. Strong workforce development is one of the key factors in attracting new business and industry to the Baton Rouge region. BRCC is supporting this effort in a big way!! Baton Rouge is fortunate to have such a dynamic and growing educational institution.
