Attending a game or two in the iconic Superdome is a rite of passage and an opportunity you won't want to miss. People from all walks of life converge to create a festive and fun game day experience, one that makes for a great solo travel adventure. Purchasing a Ticket
We recommend obtaining tickets through a certified third person vendor or directly from the New Orleans Saints. Tickets can be purchased here. Scalpers outside the stadium are known for selling fake tickets. It's better to be safe, spend a few extra dollars, and ensure your ticket's authenticity.
Getting There
Located in the Central Business District, the Superdome is easily accessible from all New Orleans neighborhoods: a five minute from the French Quarter, a streetcar ride from Uptown or Mid City, and conveniently located right off of Interstate 10. We do not recommend driving - parking, especially well lit lots by the Dome, fill up fast and traffic can be heavy as a result. Take an Uber and get dropped off at Champion's Square and enjoy a free pregame party!
What to Wear
If you're cheering for the Who Dat's, you better be wearing black and gold. Many of the local boutiques carry an abundance of black and gold items for this reason. Stop by a New Orleans boutique and we're sure you'll be able to find something cute!
In 2015, the NFL, in order to enhance public safety and improve stadium access for fans, instituted its Clear Bag Policy. Purses Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12' are the only purses allowed. Thankfully, many boutiques carry super cute stadium approved bags, like this one from Flying Fox.
The nice thing about being a Saints fan is that you're never really alone! By virtue of wearing the black and gold, you have all the justification to strike up a conversation with fellow fans.
Food and Drink
There are plenty of world-class restaurants within walking distance of the Superdome. John Besh's Borgne is next door in the Hyatt hotel and is a stylish place that serves up modern seafood-focused Louisiana cooking. The trendy South Market District is a short walk away and is home to Company Burger, Willa Jean, Magasin and more! Located on Poydras Street, Walk-On's Bistreaux and Bar is a delicious sports bar that will be filled with Saints fans. Johnny Sanchez and Peche are also great options to grab a bite to eat before heading to the game.
Gameday and Safety Tips
If you are walking back to your car alone, do not hesitate to ask a security guard or police officer to accompany you.
Know where you’re going. Pre-plan travel to and from the stadium to avoid getting lost and to make finding parking easier if you drive.
Arrive early and give your self plenty of time to get through security checkpoints.
Be sure to keep your valuables, such as wallets, mobile phones and purses, safe. Also, keep it close to you (better yet, attached) at all times to avoid theft.
Chat with your neighbors. Everyone is there to have a good time!
Wear comfortable shoes. You'll be walking a lot on gameday and it is important to wear proper footwear.
Know your limits! At tailgates and in the game, alcohol will be flowing abundantly. Don't overdo it. Alcohol sales cease at the end of the third quarter.
Be smart and aware of your surroundings. Saints games can be fun, but as with any major event there is the risk of danger. Be vigilant and don't be afraid to say something to stadium officials.
