Why I Travel Solo: Part One

I have been traveling, mostly alone, for decades, and I have loved every minute of it. I have visited 35 countries on 4 continents around the world from France to China, and I’m not done yet!

Two of my passions are sharing my love of solo travel and helping other solo travelers never feel like a tourist no matter where they are in the world. People often wonder why I choose to travel solo, so I’ve compiled my own personal list:

  • I love exploring and experiencing new cultures, which stems from my German heritage and early family and school influences.

  • Learning new things and discovering new ways to think are two of my favorite things garnered from solo travel.

  • Solo travel provides the freedom to do what I want when I am exploring the world, including designing my own itineraries and schedules.

  • Travel is therapeutic because, oftentimes, solutions to problems surface when traveling. You tend to appreciate what you have and your life more as travel lifts your spirits and helps you grow emotionally and spiritually.

  • I always come back from a trip having made new friends and acquaintances whether it’s a trip near or far.

  • Cultural literacy is a key element of Astrid Solo Travel Advisor. I try to share American culture and good wishes with people around the world, helping world understanding and peace in an individual way.

  • The shopping! Traveling solo around the world lets me explore flea markets and specialty shops, and buy the diverse art, jewelry and clothing I love.

  • I travel solo to inspire and enrich my family, friends and now ASTA followers by sharing what I have learned along the way.

  • Traveling solo lets me develop the ASTA brand and bring affordable luxury ideas for solo travelers to life.

  • I love experiencing luxury venues in other places such as unique hotels, restaurants, entertainment, churches, architecture, art, gardens, and more.
